Become an IAAP Associate Member

IAAP Associate Members are companies who actively support the Toronto Chapter and its efforts to provide its members with opportunities for professional development and personal growth.

The Associate Member classification allows the company to own the membership and specify a contact person for the company. This also allows flexibility to transfer the membership to a different company representative if needed.

The cost for this membership includes a one-time processing fee of $15 (U.S.) and annual dues of $180 (U.S.), for a total of $195 (U.S.).

Our Associate Members have generously donated their time, goods and services and provide ongoing support to the Toronto Chapter.  We would like to take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge their support and to express our gratitude and thanks.

Established in 1953, through the vision of Charles Best, co-discoverer of Insulin, and present in over 180 communities across the country, the Canadian Diabetes Association’s mission is to promote the health of Canadians through diabetes research, education, service and advocacy. According to a November 2007 report by the Institute for Clinical and Evaluative Sciences, one in nine or 225,000 Torontonians have diabetes. Many more are undiagnosed.  Poorly managed, the disease leads to life-threatening complications such as heart attack, strokes, kidney failure, and nerve damage leading to blindness and amputation.  If current trends continue, nearly 10% of Ontarians will have the disease by 2010.   Ninety percent of people affected by diabetes have type 2.  Although the condition is genetic, its onset is influenced by dietary and lifestyle factors.  With proper nutrition, regular exercise and stress management, type 2 diabetes can often be prevented or significantly delayed.  Education is a major component of diabetes prevention and management.
